The 8,000 gallon Saluki Aquarium will be the centerpiece of SIUC’s newly renovated interdisciplinary McLafferty Research Building. This marine environment will be home to dozens of tropical fish, coral, and other aquatic animals and plants which will be raised and sold to public aquariums to promote sustainable, responsible aquarium industry practices. The Saluki Aquarium will be a living exhibit which will serve as a destination for students, visitors, staff, and faculty to study aquatic organisms and learn about our fragile aquatic world.
